Tip# 8 – Manage Your Thoughts by Refocusing Your Mind

Ivan, what do you mean Thoughts are Things?


Well, if you touch a coffee table it will be solid, in other words it is a THING that FEELS real.


When you think about something like: "Oh, I have a wedding to go to".


Just the thought pattern itself feels REAL, it is as if you have already experienced it but in actuality have not. Therefore, you could say that thoughts are things.


Have you ever wondered, where thoughts come from?


Many thoughts come from the environment, but what about the rest of them?


Your thoughts come from the beliefs that you have installed into yourself whether consciously or unconsciously. Tony Robbins a famous personal development guru likes to approach beliefs using a table top example. Let's take a look at a belief that you are SMART and what effects it produces. 

The LEGS of the table represent your life experiences that support the BELIEF that you are Smart. Those are the beliefs that make your tabletop solid, that make your belief certain.


So, the more LEGS you have the STRONGER is your belief.


Furthermore, If you think you are NOT GOOD enough, or you CAN’T MAKE MORE MONEY, or YOUR ARE NOT WORTHY OF a BETTER RELATIONSHIP all of these are just beliefs.


They could be recent beliefs you have crated about yourself, or ones from your childhood, teenage years or early adulthood.


The main key here, is that negative beliefs about yourself will stop you from accomplishing something that you really want.The best thing in this situation, is to REFOCUS your mind as much as possible by simply picking a virtual reference point of what is it that you want as the end result and then just FOCUSING on it long enough until the negative thoughts disappear.

REFOCUSING will help you to deal with negative thinking in the present moment but It would not necessarily change your beliefs. The beliefs can change in the long term if you can consciously stop using it in new situations.


For now, don’t worry about changing the beliefs, just focus on refocusing technique since that is the gateway to taking control of your thoughts.
